Our Clients

The clients we serve come from a variety of backgrounds and have initially come to us with a wide range of needs. Most are referred to us by other clients, and after being in business for 30+ years many of our clients are the second generation. In many cases, once we establish a client relationship it is like a family connection. We become intimately familiar with their financial needs and circumstances in a deeper way than other advisors or family members. In many cases we are one of the first calls when family events happen. Our firm is oriented by the standards established by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. Clients know we are fiduciaries and we strive to maintain a high level of competency in an ever changing world.

Individuals and Families – Advice beyond investing

Business Owners

For many business owners, the lines between personal and company financial management can be blurred. Whether you’re just establishing your business or transitioning out, we can work with you on company formation, buy-sell agreements, key man insurance, disability insurance, risk management, succession and contingency strategies in the case of death, disability or divorce. And for family businesses, we can facilitate family meetings and guide stakeholders through key issues and processes in order to establish and implement a plan that protects the business, the family and you.

Highly Compensated Individuals

Time is a precious commodity for many of our clients, who would rather be engaged in their work than figuring out what to do with their bonus, profit sharing or stock options. We can help create a plan to help you keep more of your hard-earned money through smart investing and tax planning strategies. And when it’s time to make a career move, we can help you review employment agreements and evaluate your options through the lens of compensation and salary, relocation costs, bonuses and commissions, severance packages, and non-compete and other contract restrictions.

Multi-Generational Families

Sometimes an outside perspective can make all the difference. We have acted as an advisor for multi-generational families needing a non-family member to manage and coordinate investments, tax planning, estate planning, risk management and philanthropic planning. We help devise the optimal plan for executing on philanthropic interests or the right gift strategies for the family. We can also structure family meetings, facilitate discussions on values transfer, and create an asset allocation strategy for family members.

Young Families

Life moves quickly for our clients who are simultaneously building careers, raising families and caring for aging parents. Organizing finances, researching investment options and tracking performance often fall to the bottom of the priority list, and yet not paying attention to these areas can have major repercussions down the road. We can ease the burden. We help young families prioritize goals and implement a plan for achieving those goals, such as savings, education, retirement planning, tax planning and estate planning.

Life in Retirement

Clients who have reached retirement age typically wrestle with two issues: how to maintain their lifestyle once they are no longer actively earning income, and how to best invest their nest egg to ensure a steady stream of retirement income. Most have invested wisely and added to their retirement funds over decades (particularly if they have worked with a financial manager during their career years). We help ensure that their nest egg is invested in ways that maximize income while minimizing risk.

Suddenly Single

Significant changes to life circumstances can be unsettling, particularly when they weren’t anticipated. We help take the worry out of the financial aspects that such changes can bring. Experiencing a major life event such as divorce or death of a loved one requires rethinking (and restructuring) your financial plan. Our team can review your current situation, create a step-by step-plan for moving forward, and relieve some of the anxiety about the major life change you are facing.

Corporate Pensions

Fiduciary management

Defined benefit pension schemes are maturing. As members retire, trustees need to ensure pensions are exposed to limited risk and benefits are paid on time and in full. Fiduciary management provides a governance model that allows you to appoint a team of qualified investment professionals for your pension scheme where, after agreeing on the strategic objectives at outset, you can delegate the day-to-day investment decisions to your trusted partner.

Customized portfolio solutions

Designed to support in-house investment teams, we have a suite of services that can be customized in combination or delivered as discreet solutions to help you tackle your investment challenges. For investment solutions that aim to deliver your desired outcomes, we can access an innovative range of multi-asset products and services to complete your portfolio needs.

Family Offices

Our firm is similar to a multi-Family Office in the sense that we have comprehensive relationships, provide institutional investing opportunities, and regularly provide comprehensive reports. True Family Offices have their own paid staff and our resources include some of the leading services utilized to support those Family Offices. The needs of the ultra-high-net-worth differ in many ways from those of other private clients. Institutional level investing, comprehensive record keeping and reporting, and utilizing other advisors and service providers that are familiar with the needs of the ultra-high-net-worth. One example is when families develop portfolios of real estate and businesses in multiple states, they need an institutional level of insurance and accounting providers. We have a strong working relationship with these firms and can identify when consolidating may make sense.

Non-Profits

Many of our clients are involved in the world of non-profit organizations as donors and volunteer leaders. Non-profits have some unique needs and circumstances and planning needs to be done in a way very similar to family planning. We offer some services to organizations our clients are involved with on a pro-bono basis as part of our way of serving the community and causes we believe in. We can advise on investment strategy, cash flow management, and in some cases we can aid in the development of planned giving programs.

Planned Giving - Charitable Advisory Services

We have experience in supporting non-profit fund-raising efforts through planned giving consulting. We have offered individual consultations with potential donors and we have spoken at group meetings presenting the way various charitable trusts work. We can arrange a full range of planned giving services including gift administration, trustee services and charitable tax services, each of which is backed by our knowledge in managing charitable giving needs for non-profits.
